You may not like this…
I am going to tell you something you may not want to hear, which is understandable, but I am writing this to improve your business' results. So trust me.
Have you ever been pitched to, and the owner or the sales person talk about them, their product, what they do, what their goals are… And you just stand there, wanting to leave, to go and just do something else.
And even IF the product/service they sell benefits you, how would you know? They are talking about them.
My point here is:
No.
One.
Cares.
About.
You.
Or.
Your.
Business.
Well, in terms of customers (at least new ones), I hope your family and your dog (if you have one) does.
But if you're selling to people, they need to know one thing. Why?
Why this service? Why this product?
And it shouldn't be 'We sell real estate' or 'We do landscaping'. It should be 'We can sell your house so you don't have to' and 'We make your outside area your dream backyard'.
I want you to remember something when it comes to marketing and sales for your business.
How does it benefit THEM. Tell them what's in it for THEM. Because that is usually the main point they buy anyway (at least to someone who has never heard of you, and even if they are from referrals or other ways, selling the benefit can definitely help with the chances of them buying).
So if you pitch to people, run ads for your company, do newsletters, all that good stuff. Tell them how your product/service benefits your customers, don't sell the product or service itself. Yes your product/service DOES the benefit, but they care about the benefit, not what you sell.
Sell. The. Benefit.
Give it a go and see if your sales boost.
